ARC Book Review - All Too Well (Ember Falls #1), by Corinne Michaels

Book Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lachlan (Lach) West is a fire chief in the small town, Ember Falls. He was in football in high school and college, but never went pro. Why? What happened?  Lachlan and Caspian - Ainsley's brother have always been best friends, since they moved into the house next door to his.  They were both from Navy families. The dad's worked together with the Navy. Lachlan and Caspian are 4 yrs older than Ainsley, but they never seemed to bother tooo much when they were younger and she was always tagging along.

Ainsley, works for a small paper publication in NYC.  She writes puff pieces for the newspaper. She wants to write real pieces on politics, and politicians. But, the editor only wants her on these smaller pieces, she's only been with the company for 6 months, straight out of college. Ainsley has always had a huge crush on Lachlan, but never acted on anything as he is her brother's best friend, and she never wanted to complicate their relationship.

When Ainsley is assigned to write a sports story on Lachlan she doesn't know what to do other than stay away from him. She hasn't talked with him for 4 yrs since his mom's funeral.  Will seeing him again bring up all the past memories she tried to bury of him?

Lachlan isn't sure about Ainsley being in the same small town as he is after 4 yrs of not talking with her. Will she just be there to gather information for the paper and use it against him? Will she just be after a story so many others have about his life? How can he share his feelings to her if they won't be honest with themselves?

I did receive a Free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
