Book Rating:

-- 3 1/2

-- 3 1/2 Shelby just graduated high school, and is working as a bank teller. She still lives at home with her father, but, he's very abusive and she's talking to her best friend about moving in with her and her mom.
Rio is a member of the Saint’s Outlaws MC. They are out in Las Cruces, NM on a project for the club back east. When Rio and a few others see Shelby and her friend out one day, Rio is instantly taken with her. Rio is about 10ish years older than she is.
Rio and his crew go to rob a bank of course its the bank Shelby is working at. Shelby knows its Rio and his crew almost instantly even though they are all wearing masks. Shelby can see his eyes watching her. Rio protects Shelby but winds up getting shot himself, and then caputred and put in jail. Shelby couldn't believe that Rio protected her. But, after the trial he's sentenced to 10 yrs in prison, possibly less with good behavior.
Rio knows that Shelby is young and shouldn't waste her time waiting on him to get out of prison, so he brushes her off when she starts writing to him in prison. But he's drawn to her letter's like he was drawn to her when they first met at the diner in Las Cruces. He starts writing her back. He's being held over in Rosewell, NM, and she drives over a few times from Las Cruces, NM.
There are a few things that are written about New Mexico that aren't true. Rio seems instantly taken with Shelby after just a few times being around her. He knows he isn't good enough for her, but, he still pursue's her even after not seeing her for the last 8 yrs.
