ARC Book Review - Immortal Sun (Dark Olympus, book #1), by Rachel Van Dyken
Book Rating:
This book combines both Greek and Egyptian mythology in the current human world.
Cleo is trying to find her twin brother, Jake who has gone missing near Mt. Olympus, WA. She goes to the last location he was doing an archeological dig at. But there is no sign of him, he disappeared down a cave, but, no one has seen him since. Cleo doesn't know but her and Jake are the last descendants of the god Chaos. Cleo doesn't realize that those who surround her are actually gods from the ancient Greek and Egyptian worlds that she and her twin learned about when they were younger.
Cleo gets a "job" at a bar she thinks, in Washington, but, it's owned by Cyrus. Who is actually Cyrus, the Sun god Ra, is the god of creation and light, and in order to ascend to the heavens, he is tasked with destroying the human descendants of Chaos. Cyrus has been around humans for so long he is immune to them it seems like. Cleo is different though. He senses something in Cleo that he's never found in another human. Cleo is unlike anyone he and the other gods could have ever imagined. If Cleo is to die, her death threatens the stability of all who survive.
Cyrus doesn't want to like Cleo, but, maybe she's the one who can warm his heart and calm his storm? Would he need to kill her to satisfy the killing of Chaos's descendants?
