Sophie Bennett has just found her husband is having an affair with his teaching assistant on her birthday! She isn't sure where it went wrong in the last 13 years of their marriage. Now, she doesn't know what to do. She knows she wants to have peace, and that is going to her favorite place, Cape May, where she went as a child growing up. She packs up and takes a 4 hr road trip. She knows she is running away from her work, and from her life. But, right now she needs to be calm, and figure out what she is going to do next.
Liam Harper grew up in Cape May, he is a carpenter, and also works on a local construction crew. He lost his high school love when he was 18 yrs old and he's never forgiven himself for it. He has blamed himself for her loss all these years later. He's never allowed himself to be happy or to find love on his own. He's taken on a huge burden. Now he has his niece to raise and to care for, and he isn't sure what opening up to someone new would be like. But, he does need help, and he wants to love, but he just isn't sure how to.
Both Sophie and Liam have huge loss's. They aren't sure what to do with themselves, they know they both need help healing. They both need love. Will they be able to open themselves up to each other? Will Liam be able to open his heart and see what's in front of him?
This book is more on the long side. It was a very slow burn romance style book.
