Holland Tate is a college student by day but at night she goes by Lavender Smoke working as a dancer at The Envy Room to help pay the bills. 

Bridger Sanderson - is on the Wildcats hockey team. His father is the chancellor of the school. He is letting his thoughts about his father in his head during practice and games, and he's going downhill. 

Freshman year, Bridger and Holland hooked up and things broke apart between them. They have been mortal enemies ever since. Bridger ghosted her after the hook up.  Now they have been teamed up on a class assignment. Neither want to work together, but for the class and grade they need to put aside their difference and work together.

Someone is sending messages to the campus. No one knows who is behind these messages. They are going after Bridger, and he thinks is it Holland, she denies that it is her.
