ARC Book Review - Hold The Line (Kelly Ranch), by Julia Wolf

Book Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Deacon Slater grew up in a very bad family, in a small town everyone knew his last name and the family he came from were all trouble makers. Deacon knew never to give his older brother an idea of a girl who he may like. His brother would tease him / her beyond belief. When Deacon and Phoebe were in high school, he would always watch her, he always wanted to be close to her. But, could never let her or his brother know he was interested in her.

After high school Deacon (Deke) and his brother got involved in something he shouldn't have and Deacon wound up going to prison for his brother's mistakes. Deacon (Deke) got his Associates Degree on the inside, and put his time towards good instead of bad. Deacon has a younger sister - Hailey his parents gave up on, and he knew she was going to wind up in foster care after he went into prison. He could only hope she gets into a good family.

Phoebe Kelly owns and runs Sugar Rush bakery, in her small town in Wyoming. Phoebe loves cookie and creating new treats for for town folks. He nephew has a peanut allergy, so, her business is peanut free, and her family is also peanut free when they do large gatherings and everyone cooks. I'm glad that they are and include the nephew so well.

Phoebe rents a townhouse in town and usually walks to her store before and after work, it is about 1/2 a mile or so of a walk. The townhouse unit next to hers was rented by her sister, but, she moved out. Now she has a new neighbor moving in and she isn't sure who it is at first. But, then she see's Deacon (Deke) of all people coming in and out of the unit. Phoebe never admitted to anyone that she always had a crush on Deacon (Deke) in high school. Her sister knew, but, no one else.

After Deke move in, they have a bit of a rough start, but, then they get to talking more, and Deke realizes that his feelings for  Phoebe  never went away and he wants something good in his life, not just the bad that he's had his entire life. He realizes that  Phoebe is kind and sweet and has a huge heart to help others, and is a positive influence in those around her.

Once Deke and Phoebe start seeing each other, will his brother reach out to destroy what good he has now in his life? Will Deke find his sister? Will he be able to see that there is good in this world and not just bad that he is use to?

I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
