ARC Book Review - Against All Odds (Ember Falls #3), by Corinne Michaels

This is the 3rd book in the series. You can read each as a stand alone. The books go over who is who. You can read them in book order also. 

Everett Finnegan is the small town of Ember Falls veterinary doctor. He treats small animals, and the large animals - cows, horses that are in the area. In high school Everett was all about baseball, he was going to make it to the major leagues, that was always his goal. In college he got injured, and seemed like once he got healed from one injuries he would get re- injured. So, he focused more on college and worked on his vet degree and came back to Ember Falls. A few years ago his parents were in a car accident and now he helps his mom daily. 

Violet lived with her grandmother in Ember Falls when she was younger. Her parents were too busy going around the world for archeological digs. Violet and Everett started liking each other in high school and then started dating. Violet knew Everett wanted to be a baseball player, and when they graduated high school she left him and let him follow his dreams. She didn't want to hold him back. But, now 15 yrs later, being back and in the same small town, they are drawn to each other. They have houses minutes apart from each other, sharing a field together. 

Violet went off to college out in California, and met her husband while in her 3rd year. He wanted to be an accountant, and she knew that would be a steady job, one where he wasn't traveling the countryside. But, a few years ago, he got the acting bug, and started going out on jobs and was finally picked up for a serious role, and began acting full time. But, of course he cheated on her with someone. Once he did that, and Violet found out she left, and returned to Ember Falls. Now she's back to teaching what she loved doing before and now she's also divorced. She doesn't want to start something with Everett, until her divorce is final, but, she is also so drawn to him, she can't seem to be without him. 

Will Everett be open to having her back in his life? Will Violet be able to trust Everett after all the heart ache she's been through? Or will her actor ex hubby try to win her back?

  Book Rating:    This is book #2 in the series. You can read book #2 without reading #1 Truly Madly Deeply.  The characters are all explained, who belongs to who.
