ARC Book Review - Sweet Distraction, (Backstage Pass #3) by K. Bromberg

Book Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is book #3 in the series. You can read each as a standalone. The characters are all explained in each book. You can read each book in order also.

Gavin “Rocket” Caldwell is a member of the rock band Bent.  He is the keyboard player for the band. He is single and always wanting to go out and party until he passes out. Now that the band has a break in the tour, they are all at home in L.A. Rocket gets a home visit from his lawyer with information about him being a dad and having a little girl. Rocket finds out who the mom is, and now agrees to a DNA test to verify he is the father before he gets custody.

Poppy is 3 yrs old. Her mom, Olivia just passed away in a car crash, and Poppy survived. Poppy has been placed with child protective custody until her relatives could be located. Poppy hasn't talked at all since the car crash. The Dr's said it's a copping mechanism. She's young and shy and not sure what to do, since they only person she really ever knew, her mom is gone.

Willow Adams is 26 yrs old, has had a few jobs of being a nanny, a student, and a full time teacher. She has recently lost her teaching job, due to budget cuts. The Child Protective Agency reaches out to Willow to see if she would be able to be a guardian to Poppy as she is placed with the father no one knew about. Willow isn't sure why she's been given all the NDA's to sign, but, once the door at Rockets house opens up she realizes who he is.

Willow is instantly taken with Poppy. They form a strong bond. Now that they are living in Rocket's house, they develop a schedule for during the day and establish a night time routine. Rocket doesn't know what to do with Willow and Poppy in his house. He didn't have a great childhood at all growing up. He's not sure what to do. He asks Willow to stay on as a nanny and help him and Poppy.

Willow and Rocket start bonding together. They quickly find out how attracted they are to each other. Willow still wants to only take care of Poppy and not have a relationship, is that even something rock stars do? Rocket isn't sure about a relationship with Willow, he's never had one. He's never had a little girl either. They are all learning how to be with each other. Poppy slowly starts to trust the adults in her life, and she slowly starts coming out of her shell.

Will Rocket be able to keep Poppy around? Will Rocket be able to take care of Poppy while still leading his rock and roll lifestyle?

Thank you K. Bromberg and Valentine PR for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
