Coach Jack Bradford is the oldest of the Bradford siblings. He coaches high school football. Jack was in the NFL, but, came back home to be with his family. One of Jack's siblings, Dylan, is working with the Drill Team at the high school. Dylan is also best friends with Allie. Jack and his siblings own and run a local bar / restaurant - Cooters and Shooters. Allie works a few nights a week at the bar to help with her income.
Allie, a single mom and the school librarian, has been quietly crushing on him for years. Allie's son, Austin is a senior on the football team. Jack has been working with him for a few years now to be a star quarterback. Allie has an ex who has just been released from prison. Allie is worried that he is going to come for her and Jack. The Bradford family knows about her ex, and tell her that she will be safe with all of them around. But, she can't help but wonder if he will get close to her and Austin.
Jack and Allie have been friends but not dating since she's moved to the small town when her son Austin was in mid school. Allie has always had a crush on Jack, but, he's never made a move showing any interest in her. Allie knows about his ex, and how she left him and their daughter. She knows he is still hurting. She wants to be there for him, but, she wants romance and love herself. They keep brushing up against each other at Cooters and Shooters. totally innocent of course. But, then, Jack walks Allie home and she finds out he does like her. He just wants to protect the kids while they are still playing and in high school.
