ARC Book Review - Twisted Play (Cruel Games #1) by Poppy Jacobson
Book Rating:

This is a dark hockey romance novel.
Eva, has a bad heart, and has had 2 heart surgeries in her short life. Her father owes $1 Million to - Jedediah Carter, who is one of the heartless mobsters in their town. Eva is on the curvy plus size. She doesn't like attention on herself, but, she gets to be the attention of the whole school by being with Cole and Tristan. Eva wants to maintain her 4.0 GPA, she wants to do well in school, she wants to help her father, she wants to be with Cole and Tristan. But, she is getting over taxed, she doesn't know what to do who to turn to for help. She doesn't want to do the blackmail that Jedediah is making her do. But she doesn't see a way out. Eva is a plus size woman. She often puts herself down, she doesn't feel comfortable in her own skin. Some women don't like being the 'larger' person in a relationship. It was often noted how down / hard she was on herself for being larger.
Cole is as cold as the ice beneath his skates. Cole's father is Jedediah Carter. That is where he gets his coldness from. Cole has his moments, he is nice, but, only to an extent. Cole pushes Eva and her boundaries. Cole wants to be the punisher, he wants to be the one to inflict the pain.
Tristan’s sweetness hides a terrifying possessiveness. Tristan wants to have Eva to himself, but, he knows Cole won't let her go, and to be with her they all need to be together. Tristan doesn't seem like he has punished those who have shared his bed. But, now that light has been shared by Cole, he seems to like what it brings to the bedroom, the possessiveness.
Broody, Coach Aleksandr, he seems to hate Eva with a passion. But he can't stand to be away from her, and he can't stand to have him near him. Coach Aleksandr knows Eve's father from when they played in the NHL together. Coach Aleksandr knows that Eva is with Cole and Tristan, but, can he make Eva like him enough to be with him?
Poppy, the author is a new to new book author. There was a lot of demeaning words being used towards Eva.
