ARC Book Review - When Sparks Fly by Monica Murphy
Book Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Trope: grumpy vs sunshine. Age gap. She’s wealthy / spoiled princess.
Rachel Henderson is twenty-two-years-old. She comes from a NY uppper east side wealthy family who summers in the Hamton's and collect homes. Her wealthy British boyfriend just left her for a wealthy British woman. Rachel is besides herself, she doesn't know what to do, who to hang out with. She left the Hamton's due to people gossiping about her right in front of her face. She flew out to California to stay in the lake house for at least a week to get away from everyone. However within her first few days she is relaxing in the bath tub, a mini spa retreat, and knocks over a candle, which lights the curtains on fire, now the house has smoke damage and water damage from the firefighters. Her dad is super upset with her. Now Rachel doesn't know what to do with herself.
Rachel finds herself alone in the small town after the fire, he father cuts her off financially. Rachel must learn how to behave like an adult! She gets a job, and a roommate. She depends on others mostly still but, she is learning how to adult and not just s spoiled 'kid'.
Wyatt, 29, is the grumpy fire captain at the local fire station. He's also tall dark hair and handsome. He loves is home town but gets frustrated with the summer tourists and those who 'summer' in the small town. He has a 6 yr old daughter Dottie, to also take care of. Wyatt has an older sister and a younger brother and loving parents. His parents have been by his side ever since Dottie’s mom walked out on them. He knew he couldn’t raise Dottie alone and he has had a great support system.
