Unleashed is a dark cowboy romance with a mafia twist. Unleashed is a standalone romance, but part of the Beneath the Reign series, where each book follows one of the brothers in the Sterling family. This story is Ace & Harper.

Ace Sterling, is a world champion bull rider. He loves working on his family ranch in New Falls, AZ and riding bulls during the rodeo season. He loved Harper, and hasn't moved on from her even after 6 yrs of not having her. Ace and his brothers and cousins are also part of a mafia that they work for. 

Harper Jones, is now a criminal journalist for the LA Press, who lives in LA. She has been burying the Sterling Families secrets, and now she's back in AZ to uncover a criminal story. Her plan was to keep the Sterling Family out of the press and out of trouble.  She left the small town of New Falls, AZ to go to school in LA, and stayed loving the city life. Harper and Ace dated 6 yrs ago and neither of them forgot each other, neither can get each other out of there systems. Both still yearn and want for what they can't have, each other. 

Harper is friends with Gianna Milano, second in command with the Italian Mafia. Her brother, was just killed in New Falls, AZ, and Gianna wants answers. Gianna says she will pay Harper 20 times what her salary is to go to Red Creek and investigates why the Greek Mafia is buying up land in the New Falls area. Gianna's Italian Mafia family runs LA. Now we have feuding families involved with the Sterling family. What are the Greeks doing in New Falls, AZ? What can Harper give back to Gianna as intel? Will it stop her from asking any more of Harper?

ARC Book Review - Twisted Pawn (Society of Villains, #2) by L.J. Shen

  Book Rating:    We meet most of the same characters from Book 1, Bad Bishop. I recommend reading book 1, Bad Bishop as the characters, history are explained. Book 2, picks up where Bad Bishop leaves off.      Book Tropes:  Enemies to Lovers, Second Chance, Morally grey hero,  Obsessed , Stalker, Slow Burn.  Tierney Callaghan & Achilles  met when they were teenagers and they were mostly together dating in secret through their high school days. Tierney and  Tiernan Callaghan  are twins. They were taken as babies and raised in a Russian work camp. They both have  trauma   from that experience. Both were raised as killers and can fight with the best of them. Tierney doesn't need the bodyguards Achilles makes guard her, she's her own bodyguard.
