Jake McKinney is a young up and coming catcher for Sweetwater Mavericks AA baseball team. He thinks he may have been skipped over by the scouts as he hasn't been called up yet. His dad Roddy McKinney has been a catcher in the Major League baseball for awhile, and he thinks people skip over him due to his dad, Roddy McKinney. 

Campbell wants to be a sports public relations specialist. She got on with the Sweetwater Mavericks, much to her fathers dismay. He wants her to put her law degree to use in his law firm, but that's not what Campbell wants. 

Campbell sees that Jake struggles with the media. They all show him in a brute way. Campbell wants to work with Jake and show he's able to give back to the team, and help the younger  players out. Campbell wants to do a interview with Jake and his Dad Roddy, and she the father / son dynamic, but Jake can't stand his dad, and him being on the same team actually upsets Jake more than anything. Campbell tries to help Jake but ends up falling for him after he says he will do an interview if she'll dance with him. 

There is something going on with the Sweetwater Mavericks team owner, he's agreed to sell after owning the team for several years. Once Campbell sees her father's law company coming to the stadium and his letter head on several envelopes in the owners suite, Campbell can't help but investigate what is going on with the baseball owner, and her father's law firm. Will Campbell be able to stop something before her father gets his hands into it?

ARC Book Review - Twisted Pawn (Society of Villains, #2) by L.J. Shen

  Book Rating:    We meet most of the same characters from Book 1, Bad Bishop. I recommend reading book 1, Bad Bishop as the characters, history are explained. Book 2, picks up where Bad Bishop leaves off.      Book Tropes:  Enemies to Lovers, Second Chance, Morally grey hero,  Obsessed , Stalker, Slow Burn.  Tierney Callaghan & Achilles  met when they were teenagers and they were mostly together dating in secret through their high school days. Tierney and  Tiernan Callaghan  are twins. They were taken as babies and raised in a Russian work camp. They both have  trauma   from that experience. Both were raised as killers and can fight with the best of them. Tierney doesn't need the bodyguards Achilles makes guard her, she's her own bodyguard.
