ARC Book Review - Faking for Now (Frost Lake High, #3) by Rebecca Jenshak

Rowan, Frost Lake's charming soccer star. He is a senior and loves soccer, isn't sure what he wants to do in the future - college / no college. His parents own a few car dealerships, and other businesses. They are on the wealthy country club life, living a fantastic life, his parents are always traveling. Rowan doesn't have to 'try' at soccer it's just very natural to him. 

 

Summer is a new transfer student to Frost Lake. She's been across town at the rival high school. Due to a district re-structing new law she is now going to Frost Lake. She loves playing soccer and loved her life at her previous high school. Now at Frost Lake she isn't sure how she will fit in with the new team / new school. 

 

Summer and Rowan start talking and like hanging out with each other. Rowan's ex, Amanda is dating the quarterback of the football team. However, Amanda was really just trying to make Rowan jealous, not realizing he was still interested in her. All Rowans friends are grateful that he's moved on to Summer and not interested any more in Amanda. But, he was still into Amanda when he and Summer made a 'fake dating' deal. 

 

Somewhere along the fake dating Rowan and Summer start to fall for each other. Summer isn't sure when the lines blurred/crossed. Rowan likes that the lines crossed. He is more himself around Summer than he was with Amanda. 

 

Will 'fake' dating hurt their friendship? Will being with Rowan hurt Summer's chances of getting into her dream college? Will her brother forgive her for being with Rowan?

ARC Book Review - Twisted Pawn (Society of Villains, #2) by L.J. Shen

  Book Rating:    We meet most of the same characters from Book 1, Bad Bishop. I recommend reading book 1, Bad Bishop as the characters, history are explained. Book 2, picks up where Bad Bishop leaves off.      Book Tropes:  Enemies to Lovers, Second Chance, Morally grey hero,  Obsessed , Stalker, Slow Burn.  Tierney Callaghan & Achilles  met when they were teenagers and they were mostly together dating in secret through their high school days. Tierney and  Tiernan Callaghan  are twins. They were taken as babies and raised in a Russian work camp. They both have  trauma   from that experience.
