ARC Book Review - Holding Ground (The Mercer Family #1) by Piper Rayne

Book Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book Tropes: single dad, grumpy x sunshine, forced proximity, MCs in their 30s, small town, found family, opposites attract, dual POV

Elliott is a grumpy single-dad, he has a little girl, Baylor, in kindergarten. They live in the small town of Echo Lake. Elliott has two younger brothers, Ansel & Hollis. Ansel states that he is Baylor's favorite Uncle and is always around playing with her and doing things with her. Elliott is wary of Emelia. He isn't sure if she's in town to take over the small town and bull doze it to the ground or if her company will work with the towns people and building small buildings like they are stating. With Emelia living in Elliott's guest room, can he start to trust her? But with her leaving in 3 months, should he trust her / let himself become attached to her?

Emelia Greene works for a business developer in Boston. They sent her to the small town of Echo Lake for 3 months to see about adding some townhouses, an expansion project along the lake, improve the area - making it more of a year round town rather than just a summer town totally dependant on tourists. She has to get the town council on her side for them to approve the vote. But the council follows what town feels / wants. So, she really needs to get the town to like her and approve what her company is offering. She is renting a small cabin behind Elliott's house until a large storm comes through one night, and a tree lands on part of the cabin. Now she must move into Elliott's house putting her closer to him and his daughter.
