Sawyer Hill is a player on the Grizzlies hockey team. He takes care of his aging mother, who also lives in the town he does - to be closer to him during the season and off season. The problem is she calls him for every little thing. He feels like he has to take care of all her requests. She depends on him way to much. Sawyer has his commitment to his team, to his charity work, and to Lainey. He has way to much going on he is going to burn himself out. Everyone thinks of Sawyer as a player, but, he only has eyes for Lainey. He wants to be with her and protect her, and he loves being around her son, Ollie. 

Lainey and her son Ollie, have been adopted into the Grizzly family back in the first book. Lainey is a book author, her husband past away not that long ago, she isn't look for love. But, she isn't looking to be single the rest of her life either. Lainey likes Sawyer, but she's also aware that he has a 'past' and she isn't sure trying to be with him is good for her and her son or not. But, Sawyer is nothing but sweet and kind to her and Ollie. 

When Lainey is grabbed outside a book store signing Sawyer steps in and helps Lainey and takes her home. But, when things start disappearing around Lainey's house, she isn't sure what is going on. Sawyer wants to help her and believes her that things are missing / or moving. But, 
he hasn't 'seen' anything either. Can they file a police report? Can they request the police to watch the house? Can Sawyer move in to help protect Lainey and Ollie?

ARC Book Review - Twisted Pawn (Society of Villains, #2) by L.J. Shen

  Book Rating:    We meet most of the same characters from Book 1, Bad Bishop. I recommend reading book 1, Bad Bishop as the characters, history are explained. Book 2, picks up where Bad Bishop leaves off.      Book Tropes:  Enemies to Lovers, Second Chance, Morally grey hero,  Obsessed , Stalker, Slow Burn.  Tierney Callaghan & Achilles  met when they were teenagers and they were mostly together dating in secret through their high school days. Tierney and  Tiernan Callaghan  are twins. They were taken as babies and raised in a Russian work camp. They both have  trauma   from that experience.
